We dedicate a huge amount of our time to researching the latest methods to improve puppies temperaments, health and nervous system whilst they are with us. This is how the "Imperial puppy programme" took form where we have checklists of protocols, socialisation, early neurological stimulation and more that we have to complete every single day with our growing puppies. We start off with the best genetics from our adult dogs, that all live in house with us and have tried and true temperaments, we then match them correctly to dogs that will compliment their attributes, both mentally and physically, to produce mentally sound and stable Boerboels. We also health test every single one of our breeding dogs, and build upon already good genetics with early protocols to protect joint and physical health; for example keeping the whelping box extremely clean, feeding them on a variety of high quality food, having plenty of traction in the whelping box and no slippy areas. We also take our puppies to RCVS veterinary professionals to perform multiple health checks before they leave us. Ensuring peace of mind for both us and their owners. We make sure every puppy is well and truly desensitised to anything they may encounter in their lives, our puppy programme includes sound exposure, to baby crying, doorbells, thunder, fireworks, hoovering etc. We start nail clipping and dremeling from just a few weeks old, bath times start at 4 weeks old and continue multiple times a week up until they leave us, to ensure confidence around water. We start toilet training early on, and our puppies always leave us either fully or almost toilet trained. In the week before they leave us, we start introducing the crate and crate training to make it a positive experience for them, and much less scarier than it happening for the first time in their new homes. We also rigorously temperament test our puppies prior to leaving; this includes testing them around their food bowl and toys for resource guarding, setting up very loud bowl clanging near them to test confidence and so on. This makes our puppies very resilient and will set them up for success, to become very tolerant adults.
